Phoebe Hamann Scholarship
During her lifetime, Phoebe Hamann inspired and encouraged countless local musicians. Phoebe was one of the original planners and founders of SAIL (Strings Alliance in Lincoln) Camp. In an effort to continue her work, individuals who knew and loved Phoebe Hamann have established The Phoebe Hamann Memorial Scholarship. This is an annual award, presented in an amount of $1500.
Applicants must plan a career in a music profession such as music performance, education, or another music-related major area. Applicants must have been a SAIL Camp intern and/or participant. The scholarship award will be directly deposited into the recipient's college student account for direct application to the expenses of attending that college's school of music or music department. This is a non-renewable scholarship.

Chip Hamann Scholarship
Charles "Chip" Hamann, a native of Lincoln, Nebraska, is Principal Oboe of Ottawa's National Arts Centre Orchestra. In addition to his regular duties with the National Arts Centre Orchestra, Mr. Hamann's career has expanded to encompass the roles of teacher, adjudicator, and chamber musician, both in Ottawa and across North America. He is a member of the Faculty of Music at the University of Ottawa. In 2006, Charles Hamann established the Charles Hamann Scholarship to be given to a young local instrumental musician who plans a musical career. This is an annual award, presented in an amount of $1500.

The scholarship award will be deposited directly in the recipient's college student account for direct application to the expenses of attending that college's school of music or music department. This is a non-renewable scholarship.

Henry R. Hultquist Memorial Scholarship
Formerly known as the VELA scholarship, the Henry R. Hultquist Memorial Scholarhip is offered by The Violin Shop in Lincoln as part of its ongoing commitment to string players at every stage of development, from beginner to professional. This scholarship was awarded for the first time in 2019 as part of SAIL Camp's 35th anniversary celebration. This award is designed for a strings player who continues to participate in a music program at the college level. The applicant need not be a music major. This is an annual award, presented in an amount not to exceed $1000.
Applicants must be a strings player, a former SAIL camp intern and/or participant, and be enrolled in a Nebraska college or university. The applicant may declare any major area of study. The applicant must plan to participate as a strings player in an ensemble at the college level (a university orchestra or a local civic ensemble). Upon verification of enrollment and ensemble participation, the scholarship award will be deposited directly in the recipient's student account for application to the expenses of attending that Nebraska institution. This is a non-renewable scholarship.
